　　这让新一代的家长和学生开始思考，教育的意义究竟是什么?上一个年代，人们受到的“教育”是，如果你努力学习，成绩优秀，进入一所好的大学，你就能得到一份好的工作。这是一条“追求卓越”的线性道路。但这个时代的学生已经不再认同这条道路。确实，你最好能够上一所好的大学。但这不再意味着你一定还能在这个竞争激烈的社会里找到好的工作——尤其是当你在这条追求变成“好学生”的道路上，付出了“牺牲自我天赋”的代价。因为这样，一个学生就失去了他最大的竞争力。人和人都是不一样的。每个人生来都有他特有的天赋。这个道理很多人都知道。但是很多人忽略的是，天赋这个东西，跟大多数宝藏一样，是埋得很深的。它需要被挖掘，被鼓励，被催化，在合适的环境下，才会显现出来。这才有了真正有效的教育，以及它应该有的意义：认可、支持、催化每个学生找到自己与他人不同的天赋。而不是去阻碍这个过程，去将所有学生压成同一个形状。这意味着父母和老师应该重视那些被传统价值体系忽略的闪光点——认可它们，鼓励它们。尤其是认可那些看似偏离了“好学生”道路，但确实是在用实际行动，努力尝试着挖掘自己天赋的年轻人。在那个TED演讲的结尾中，Ken Robinson说：“我遇到过一些人，他们并不喜欢自己做的工作，他们每天都在忍受着而不是享受着他们做的事，他们总是在等待周末的到来。”“我也遇到过一些人，他们非常享受自己做的奇特的事情，他们无法想象自己做着其它的任何工作。如果你跟他说：“别做这个了，跟其他人一样吧”，他会听不懂你在说什么。因为这不仅是他做的工作，这就是他找到的最真实的自己。”所以，当一个真正的教育者说，你真是一个“Extraordinary”的学生!他说的往往不是“顶尖”或者“卓越”的意思。
